The United States Peace Corps, a United States Government Organization, with Volunteer programs in 65 countries around the world, is seeking a Temporary Pre Service Training Secretary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS...

NOTE: All Ordinary Residents or applicants who are not South African Citizens must have the required work and/or residency permits to be eligible for consideration.

The United States Peace Corps, a United States Government Organization, with Volunteer programs in 65 countries around the world, is seeking a Temporary Pre Service Training Secretary.

The Pre Service Training Secretary plays a key role in helping to train the Peace Corps Volunteers.  The Secretary will be responsible for setting up on-site training offices, e.g. set up computers, printers, physical layout of the office. The Temporary Secretary may have to manage a number of projects at one time, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of trainees and staff. This is a personal service contract position. 

  • A ten-week contract based upon a 6-day workweek;

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Occasionally draft correspondence, reports and other documentation.
  • Create and maintain an efficient filing system and processing all mail and packages.
  • Scheduling and making appointments for members on the Training staff and guests.
  • Maintaining, ordering, and inventorying all office supplies and equipment.
  • Participating in any other components of training as requested by the Training Manager.

Education Required:

  • Completion of secondary school and two to three years college education in clerical and or/secretarial required.

Work Experience Required

  • A minimum of Three years’ experience as a Secretary/Administrative Assistant. 

    Language Required:

  • English level IV (Fluent) – reading, writing and speaking is required.

    Knowledge: (Preferred)

  • Thorough knowledge of administrative and office support procedure including secretarial support, procurement.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures is required.

    Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in the use of Google applications and Microsoft Office Suite of computer applications (including MS-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Multitasking, time management, and coordination of competing priorities/deadlines.
  • Must be willing to take direction from others and collaborate with others
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a multi-cultural, multi-national team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

Minimum requirements:

  • Willingness and commitment to live in a rural village for the duration of the contract; and
  • Police Security Clearance is mandatory for all applicants.
